ROTARACT THANKS COMMUNITY FOR KNIT-A-THON SUPPORT

The Rotaract Club of Diamond Valley would like to thank the Diamond Valley and surrounding communities for their heartfelt support of the club’s knit-a-thon event held earlier this month.
Throughout the seven-hour knitting marathon on May 16, about 20 knitting novices and experts gathered at St John’s Anglican Church in Diamond Creek to help the homeless and bushfire victims keep warm this winter.
More than 170 items including rugs, cushions, scarves, beanies, jumpers and ponchos have been knitted, which will all be donated to St Vincent’s De Paul.
The Rotaract Club of Diamond Valley is absolutely thrilled with the community’s response to the knit-a-thon and would like to thank all those who volunteered their time to make a difference for the needy this winter,” Club President Michael Shields said.
We would also like to thank our sponsors Spotlight for its generous support through the donation of wool and knitting needles, as well as Sweet Temptations for providing food and refreshments.
On the day we had great support from Inner Wheel, the Country Women’s Association, the Rotary clubs of Diamond Creek, Bundoora, Greensborough and Eltham and St John's Anglican Church parishioners.
"The knit-a-thon was a fun-filled and colourful day and everyone who came along thought it was a wonderful project which they would like to do again.”
“Many people took their knitting home to complete, so we are hoping for even more donations in the coming weeks.”
St Vincent’s De Paul will be distributing donations to the homeless and bushfire victims.
