St Johns Anglican Church Diamond Creek

Our vision for the 2010 Rotary Diamond Creek Town Fair is to Provide entertainment that is fun and interactive for Nillumbik Youth between the ages of 10 and 20, Encourage and engage local youth to participate in activities that would otherwise be seen in a negative light – specifically getting youth involved in a Street Art demonstration and promoting this type of art work and encourage youth to participate in a photography competition, providing recognition of their efforts by displaying their submissions at a Nillumbik community event

Come down to Marrangook Oval, Diamond Creek on Saturday, September 11th, 2010 and enjoy the fun of this years Town Fair. There will be plenty of other attractions including free rides, Market Stalls, other entertainment and much more.

Project Strategies:

  • Promote the Rotaract Club of Diamond Valley:  Our presence as volunteers will assist us in demonstrating how our club gives back to the community, and create awareness of what our Club is involved in.
  • Photography Competition: Enable youth in the Nillumbik Community to submit photos taken by themselves into a competition which will be judged on varying categories. All entrants will have their photography on display so that it may be viewed by a larger audience. We hope that this will provide an opportunity for participation to all youth of the Nillumbik community, and we aim to recognise each entrant for their submission, however submissions winning a category will be rewarded for their talent.
  • Street Art: Traditionally Street Art has attracted a negative association within the community, however there is amazing talent within Nillumbik and we would like to provide an opportunity at the Diamond Creek Town Fair in which young street artists in the Nillumbik area can demonstrate their talents in a positive light. We will invite local youth Street Artists to come along and participate in this exciting demonstration, with a view to displaying the finished product in the local area.
  • Free Ride or Activity: Our club would like to provide a ride or activity that is free of charge to the public that is fun and age appropriate. We hope to appeal to those who may not otherwise be able to afford to participate in a ride or activity, and we hope that providing this free of charge will encourage youth to participate in the Diamond Creek Town Fair.
